Brookfields Research by Dan Hamilton
John Hamilton, Yeoman of Concord
as he is described in early Brookfield records, was the son of immigrant John Hamilton who arrived in Boston in 1650 as a Scottish POW captured by Cromwell at the battle of Dunbar. He probably arrived on the ship Unity. Yeoman John arrived in Brookfield in 1701 and became one of the largest landowners in the area and his family intermarried with many of the early families of Brookfield. Published genealogies are available at all the libraries and historical commissions and societies in the Brookfields. A descendant tree with over 12,000 members is available on Ancestry.com, and there is a forum of descendant researchers on Yahoo.com.
